ERINNERN DURCH KLANG
Denkort Bunker Valentin • Bremen

The art installation Erinnern durch Klang is based on investigations of the local wind currents and other acoustic phenomena at the bunker "Valentin" in Bremen-Farge. In the demolished part of the bunker, visitors experience a continuous sound projection of composed field recordings alternating with randomly controlled sound material. Outside, on the Weser dyke, the strings of a metre-high wind harp installation, vibrate by the wind alone.

The basis for the installation is a quote by the former French concentration camp prisoner Lucien Hirth: "There was such a wind. The place was cold."

The installation utilizes a six-channel system, with certain compositions utilizing four speakers while others employ all six. However, the Bandcamp version has been condensed into a stereo format.

Erinnern durch Klang was conceived and designed by Annemarie Strümpfler (freelance artist) and realised by Mattia Bonafini (electroacoustic composition) and Jutta Kelm (wind and sound art).

Die Kunstinstallation Erinnern durch Klang basiert auf Untersuchungen der örtlich bedingten Windströme und anderer akustischer Phänomene am Bunker „Valentin“ in Bremen-Farge. Im Ruinenteil des Bunkers erleben Besuchende eine kontinuierliche Sound- Projektion aus durchkomponierten „Field Recordings“, die sich mit zufällig gesteuertem Klangmaterial abwechseln. Am Weserdeich auf dem Außengelände werden die Saiten einer meterhohen Windharfeninstallation allein durch den Wind in Schwingung gebracht.

Grundlage für die Installation ist ein Zitat des ehemaligen französischen KZ-Häftlings Lucien Hirth: „Da war ein Wind. Da war es kalt.“

7. Mai bis 6. August 2023

Erinnern durch Klang wurde erdacht und konzipiert von Annemarie Strümpfler (freischaffende Künstlerin) und realisiert von Mattia Bonafini (elektroakustische Komposition) und Jutta Kelm (Wind- und Klangkunst).

Die Installation nutzt ein Sechs-Kanal-System, wobei bestimmte Kompositionen vier Lautsprecher verwenden, während andere alle sechs einsetzen. Die Bandcamp-Version wurde jedoch in ein reduziertes Stereo-Format komprimiert.
